About Me

 

A Freelance Costume Designer and wardrobe supervisor for various projects in LA since 2011. Aja Morris-Smiley is from Philadelphia and a graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore County, with a BA in Theater and focus in CostumeD Design and management.  It was in this time that she also became Assistant to the Costume Shop Manager which kick start her costume career path and made her who she is today.  Freelancing her work on films, theatre, and as a wardrobe stylist. Her credits include a creative fashion assistant for On5th Productions. Working on annual play festivals like Pick of the Vine Little Fish Theatre San Pedro, and the Hollywood Fringe festivals in Los Angeles. Her current works and awards in theatre include Wardrobe supervising, hair and makeup designer for Dream Girls; that won the Critics Choice Ovation award for 2013. And winning the KCACTF ( Kennedy Ctr. American College Theater Festival) Awards in 2011 for Las Meninas, while at UMBC .

She would like to thank her Dad for her that first sewing machine, but most of all she would like to thank both Shelly Joyce and Mike Abramson for giving her her start down this path of life.
